mmmightymightypeople:

and then i’m going to find a way to enjoy a blessed day of sun and OMG AVERAGE TEMPERATURES rather than destroying brain cells heat—

colorado is yet another state that has seen multiple mass shootings/violence by white males where the immigration “debate” has seen catastrophic levels of legistlation and violence enacted against latin@ communities specifically and all immigrant communities more broadly. colorado was one of the first states to create legistlation to imprison undocumented latino workers and put women prisoners (who are *presumed* to be US citizens) in the fields in their place, as an example.

i say this not for people to be *dismissive*—omg, all those conservative states are so embarassing! i will never move there!

but to point to the multiple ways that white supremacist violence plays out. with white supremacy comes male supremacy. it makes sense in that world to imprison brown people to make it so that poverty stricken white mothers can gain “job experience” picking in the fields. workers as a whole are controlled and strictly monitored, brown people are criminalized and women are trained for a life time of economic dependence on welfare oops, nope we ended that program too! how about—they can be dependent on—*men*—the way god intended!

and bam! we have us a righteous christian god fearing nation that values and protects traditional christian families as spoken of in the bible!

the hyper intensification of white supremacy necessarily means the hyper intensification of male supremacy and heteropatriarchy. that this shit keeps happening in states where nativism and white supremacy is a normal thing in state congresses—it does not speak to a “traditional” narrative of “just being the south”—it speaks to how that shit is something we ALL need to worry about and fight against…
