– a headline yesterday from my favorite least favorite newspaper
superdoofus-stratodrive:

“Oh, what a big man you are!”
The Nassau Coliseum is nicer than this.

The time has come to set aside childish things.

This is even sassier than Rick Warren’s voice when he said “Malia and Sasha”!

I made a year-end mix.
If you want one, email me with your mailing address or a good reason why I should just send you files online. Also I will be posting the mix later in the week in two parts so if you’d rather listen to thirtyish-minute streaming mp3s you can wait for that.

Twitterer/New Yorkerer Sasha Frere-Jones is confused by Tumblr. Help him out, kids.
Sasha, Tumblr is like a reinvention of LiveJournal. Twitter is like a reinvention of the megaphone. Hope this helps.

– Marc Cooper, L.A. Weekly: The Autopsy Report (via Matos). The above quote is pretty much the only thing from this long and depressing yet essential read about the decline of the L.A. Weekly that’s not on point. By making his piece an elegy specifically for the Weekly, Cooper seems to have...

– Joe Nocera here, one of three financial pieces shared today by Balk.
The Michael Lewis two-parter is the best, both because it’s not easily summed up, unlike the Nocera piece (in short: VaR (Value at Risk) was a great risk predictor until it became an unofficial ratings standard in lieu of...
Related: Am I the only one who feels like there’s a sort of psychic connection between internet males and Wall Street males and the fact that they have all the same viewpoints and behaviors?
And if not, where do i sign up to short-sell internet males?
This one goes out to award-winning Ayn Rand scholar offnotes: I get that internet males espouse Objectivism because they don’t understand the benefits they receive from their parents/socio-economic class position, but how do they not see the gigantic glaring contradiction in being the same internet males who say “content yearns to be free”?
(P.S. This is a rhetorical question...
